While I was home during spring break in 2024, I was driving around and noticed this business’s trailer in front of me, for a place called Sunset Slush was covered in comic sans. I then decided to go to the store on the trailer and everything from their signs, menus, umbrellas, everything had comic sans on it.
At first, I thought that Sunset Slush had only one location and was a Mom and Pop shop. After some research I found out I was completely wrong. Sunset Slush was created in Brunswick County, North Carolina. It was first a push cart on the beach, that expanded in over 140 locations nation wide. Each location uses a variety of different typefaces, but mainly comic sans.
The concept behind my type face for Sunset Slush is to create a energetic, welcoming, and bubbly type face mainly for display purposes. This way all locations of Sunset Slush can have a cohesive type face.
